Curriculum

Our Early Years curriculum is built around the Statutory Framework for the Early Years Foundation Stage (DfE, 2021a) and is designed to ensure every child makes good progress and no child is left behind. It provides a balance of quality, consistency and care across all areas of learning.

The curriculum focuses on three prime areas — Communication and Language, Physical Development, and Personal, Social and Emotional Development — which build the foundation for future learning. Alongside these, children explore four specific areas: Literacy, Mathematics, Understanding the World, and Expressive Arts and Design.

This document maps the progression of skills across Nursery (Dolphins) and Reception (Turtles), from Autumn 1 through to Summer 2. It outlines how we support children as they grow in confidence, independence and curiosity, preparing them for the next stage of their learning journey.
