Learning Curriculum at Kirkbymoorside Community Primary School

At the heart of our curriculum lies a commitment to nurturing curious, independent, and responsible learners prepared for a rapidly changing world.

We celebrate each child's individuality, encouraging them to value diversity and broaden their perspectives beyond our rural setting.

The curriculum across the Areté Learning Trust is designed to build on children’s prior learning, provide first-hand experiences, and foster essential interpersonal and thinking skills. We enrich learning through real-world experiences, community involvement, and school-wide values that promote resilience, creativity, and collaboration. Children regularly engage in events, performances, and shared projects that extend learning beyond the classroom and nurture a strong sense of social responsibility.

Through a carefully planned integration of the National Curriculum and our global themes, pupils gain a secure foundation in basic skills while developing as reflective, capable learners. Our subject overviews ensure coherent progression and effective assessment to address misconceptions swiftly. From Early Years onwards, children are supported and challenged according to their needs, including targeted interventions in reading, writing, and mathematics. By the time they leave us, pupils are equipped with the confidence, knowledge, and critical thinking skills to thrive in the next stages of their education and beyond.
